White Paper on Reforming Local Government: Resilient and Renewed

The Welsh Government has published for consultation its White Paper 'Reforming local government: Resilient and renewed'. The Paper sets out the Government's statement of intent about the future of local government in Wales. Views are being invited on proposals which will:

  • set out arrangements for regional working
  • strengthen the role of councils and councillors
  • provide the framework for future voluntary mergers
  • detail the role of community councils.

Views are also being sought on reform to the electoral system for local government in Wales.
