Food and Fun is a School Holiday Enrichment Programme (SHEP). This innovative multiagency programme provides good quality nutrition, food education and physical activity to children in areas of deprivation during the school summer holidays. Developed by the Food Cardiff partnership in 2015, and piloted nationally by the WLGA in 2016, SHEP is being rolled out to 15 local authorities in 2017, with a £500,000 grant from Welsh Government. The WLGA’s Food in Schools Coordinator has been facilitating this to date but this role has now become a full time commitment. Consequently, the WLGA are looking to recruit a SHEP Coordinator to further develop and roll out the programme in Wales. Welsh Government funding for this roll out and post is anticipated until 31 March 2020, dependant on successful Business Plans.
