Transport and our highway infrastructure play an absolutely critical role in maintaining and supporting our economy and our society. It is therefore essential that resources are invested into these areas over a sustained period of time to ensure that our infrastructure and transport provision does not let down the economic growth so clearly laid out in the Wales Spatial Plan.

Integration, coordination and partnership are critical for effective transport provision and we want the regional consortias to be given time and the resources needed to deliver a 21st century transport system in Wales. We do not believe that Joint Transport Authorities are required and would make a substantial difference to that already being achieved by the Councils and the consortia alike.
