WLGA Views and Activities

The Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) represents the interests of local government and its associate members in the implementation of the Strategy for Older People in Wales and on issues affecting older people. The WLGA’s primary purposes are to promote better local government and its reputation and to support authorities in the development of policies and priorities which will improve public services and local democracy. These purposes coincide with the aspirations of Better Government for Older People (BGOP) for older people to be engaged as citizens in the development of policies and services that suit their needs.

Direct support to local government is provided by the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA). A Policy Officer for Older People and Ageing based within the Equalities and Social Justice Team of the WLGA has been appointed and is working closely with local authority Strategy Coordinators on the implementation of the Strategy.

A network has also been established and is facilitated by the WLGA aimed at bring the local authority coordinators together from across Wales to share practice, discuss key issues and keep informed of updates and progress.

A monthly Bulletin is also sent out to coordinators and others who are interested in this work. You can subscribe to this Bulletin on this website.
