This Network has been established as a support mechanism through which local authorities in Wales and other public sector bodies can come together and discuss strategic issues around the implementation of the Welsh language including promoting bilingualism within local government in Wales. The Network will also support the work of Language Officers and share information and examples of good practice and update colleagues on a range of issues and initiatives being addressed. Meetings of the Network will be organised and serviced by the WLGA.
Meetings 2011
At the last Rhwydiaith meeting it was decided that future meetings should be held at a time when Rhwydiaith input into policy developments can be most effective. In particular, it was noted that the next meeting should set aside time to prepare a Rhwydiaith response to the proposed new Welsh language strategy. A date for this meeting will be set, as soon as the timescale for the consultation on the Welsh language strategy becomes clear.
