WLGA, CHC and WAG Housing Enablers launch

Jocelyn Davies, AM, Deputy Minister for Housing will be speaking at the launch of an initiative next week aimed at increasing the supply of affordable housing in rural Wales.
Local authorities, housing associations and the Welsh Assembly Government have agreed to jointly fund a network of 10 rural housing experts who will work with communities, councils and housing associations to address the lack of affordable rural housing.
Leading politicians and professionals with responsibilities for housing will participate in the event, including:
• Jocelyn Davies, AM, Deputy Minister for Housing, Welsh Assembly Government
• Cllr Aled Roberts (Wrexham), WLGA Spokesperson for Housing
• Nick Bennett, Chief Executive, Community Housing Cymru
• Local Authority leaders from across Wales
• Local authority chief executives from across Wales
• Heads of housing strategy across rural Wales
• Heads of housing services across rural Wales
• ‘Rural Housing enablers’
• Housing Association Board members and Chief Executives
Rural Housing Enablers have a key role to play in working with local communities, local authorities and housing associations to increase the supply of affordable housing in rural areas. For example, they will work in partnership with local communities to identify local housing need and work with all key partners to find ways to meet that need. They can also play an important role in finding suitable sites for housing development and identifying empty homes that can be brought back into use..
