WLGA Statement on Southern Cross Care Homes

A WLGA Spokesperson said:
“Elderly and vulnerable residents will not suffer as a result of the situation facing Southern Cross Healthcare. Continuity of care and reassurance for residents is the absolute imperative for all local authorities involved”.
“Whilst the scale of the situation is significant, all parties involved have been aware of the circumstances surrounding Southern Cross for a while and have been working together to put in place contingency planning to deal with scenarios that may arise.”
“The WLGA and the Association of Directors for Social Services (ADSS) are in regular communication with the Welsh Assembly Government and the priority for all parties throughout these discussions is the continuity of care for residents of South Cross care homes.”
“The WLGA urges members of the public with any concerns to contact Southern Cross or their local authority.”
