New Communities

The WLGA is committed to promoting a fair and inclusive society for all and is working to improve the development of policy and practice in relation to migrant workers, asylum seekers and refugees.

A policy officer has been appointed within the WLGA to coordinate and share research and information and to help build expertise and capacity within local government and other sectors in relation to migrant workers, asylum seekers and refugees.

New Communities Information Gateway

The purpose of the New Communities Information Gateway is to share practical experience and knowledge. The following pages will be developed over the coming months to support policy makers and practitioners to be able to:

  • share information and pool intelligence to gain a better understanding of the migration population;
  • raise awareness of the issues relating to new communities;
  • provide case studies of work in Wales and the UK;
  • promote events and activities happening in Wales and the UK;
  • contribute to a coordinated response that meets the needs of all of Wales’ communities.

If you would like to contribute to the New Communities Information Gateway please contact Maria Allen on 02920468631 or email Maria Allen.
