The Local Government Data Unit-Wales is a partnership venture, jointly funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and local government in Wales. The Unit’s key functions are:
- to collect, process, interpret and disseminate statistical data on local government services and activities;
- to participate in and promote local government capacity-building on statistical data matters;
- to act as a driver for improvement in local government performance in Wales.
The Data Unit provides support and guidance on a range of data and statistical issues including collecting data, commissioning surveys and identifying and exploiting existing data sources.
