Housing

It is increasingly recognised that good quality affordable housing located in sustainable communities is fundamental to the success of a wide range of public policy areas including  health and well being, education, economic prosperity and crucially, the key to achieving social justice. Local Authorities are the only organisations which are able to take a comprehensive overview of housing needs and priorities in their local areas, and therefore have a crucial role to play.

In the Eye of the Storm - WLGA Housing Priorities

Houses
Housing is an area of responsibility which is devolved to the Welsh Assembly Government and the WLGA takes an active part in the development of housing policy in Wales. Our involvement includes membership of a range of groups established by the Welsh Assembly Government, for example:

  • task and finish groups which are developing an individual policy;
  • steering groups for individual housing research projects;
  • involvement in ongoing groups which are developing and monitoring policy across a broader area.
