It is increasingly recognised that good quality affordable housing located in sustainable communities is fundamental to the success of a wide range of public policy areas including health and well being, education, economic prosperity and crucially, the key to achieving social justice. Local Authorities are the only organisations which are able to take a comprehensive overview of housing needs and priorities in their local areas, and therefore have a crucial role to play.
