Applications are being invited for Excellence Wales status 2007/08.
The themes for 2007/08 were:
- Our Children & Young People – Protecting and fulfilling lives and futures
- Our Economy – Strong, prosperous and vibrant communities
- Our Environment – Clean, green, managed and enjoyed
- Our Council- Collaboration in the public services
The detail of the themes and the sub-themes is set out in the attached information booklet.
The Excellence Wales scheme has been improved and refined with the benefit of the positive feedback provided by councils and national partners from the experience of the previous year. The key improvements are summarised on page 4 of the attached document. In particular:
- to extend the scheme so that the National Parks, Police and Fire & Rescue Authorities can apply for Excellence Wales status in specific themes and sub themes (see page 10);
- the application and recognition process for Our Council has been refined to encourage applications for public sector collaborative good practice;
- more time for completion of applications;
- introduction of a “certificate of recognition” where an authority meets some but not all of the criteria required for a commendation in a sub theme and demonstrates exemplary practice worthy of recognition.
