The WLGA provides dedicated employer support to local authorities helping to improve performance and achieve high standards and best practice in all aspects of Human Resources activity. The WLGA provides a range of services including:
- Providing a strategic approach to human resource issues for local authorities in Wales, with an advisory, support and networking service on employment and health and safety issues.
- Seeking to influence national local government work programmes and priorities and the development of policy;
- Supporting Welsh local government on matters of skills, competencies and workforce development infrastructure and workforce planning issues;
- Assisting Welsh authorities to maintain effective trades union relations, including acting as the Employer’s Secretary to the Joint Council for Wales and providing a conciliation service on industrial relations issues on request.
