Employer Support

The WLGA provides dedicated employer support to local authorities helping to improve performance and achieve high standards and best practice in all aspects of Human Resources activity. The WLGA provides a range of services including: 

  • Providing a strategic approach to human resource issues for local authorities in Wales, with an advisory, support and networking service on employment and health and safety issues. 
  • Seeking to influence national local government work programmes and priorities and the development of policy; 
  • Supporting Welsh local government on matters of skills, competencies and workforce development infrastructure and workforce planning issues; 
  • Assisting Welsh authorities to maintain effective trades union relations, including acting as the Employer’s Secretary to the Joint Council for Wales and providing a conciliation service on industrial relations issues on request.
