Central Wales Regional Partnership Board and the WLGA Rural Forum

The Central Wales Regional Partnership Board (CWRPB) was established in 2006 with membership extending beyond the 'central' region to include the nine large rural Welsh local authorities. At the end of November 2007, WLGA Council approved the consolidation of Board’s rural lobbing work under a WLGA Rural Forum.

The CWRPB comprising the Leaders and Chief Executives of Ceredigion and Powys County Councils continues to oversee and inject pace into collaborative work in the region; there are also a range of programmes reporting to the Board which are overseen by specific Members Boards of Portfolio Holders for the collaboration in question i.e. the Central Wales Infrastructure Collaboration Board, the Central Wales Waste Partnership Board, the Central Wales Planning Board and the meetings of the Portfolio Holders for Health and Social Care who are overseeing the new arrangements for regional social care in Central Wales under single management arrangements.. Being unfettered in their choice of partners, Ceredigion and Powys County Councils are also involved in projects which sometimes report to other WLGA Regional Boards, and recently the Central Wales Board has met with the Regional Partnership Forum for South West Wales to discuss particular collaborations which span both regions.

This recent PowerPoint presentation serves to illustrate the richness and complexity of those arrangements.

The newly formed Central Wales Joint Consultative Committee also plays a critical role in the regional working and meets at least twice a year.

The agendas, minutes and papers of each meeting of the Central Wales Regional Partnership Board can be accessed through the links on the left hand side of this page. Please note that records prior to September 2009 have been archived, but are still available on request. Attendance at the Board is by invitation only, and this year, the CWRPB is scheduled to meet on:

  • 23rd January 2012 – special Board meeting with Gwenda Thomas AM, Deputy Minister for Children & Social Services, Welsh Government
  • 3rd February 2012 for a joint meeting with the Regional Partnership Forum for South West Wales
  • 26th March 2012  for a joint meeting with the Regional Partnership Forum for South West Wales
