The UK has passed legislation which introduces the world’s first long term legally binding framework to tackle the dangers of climate change. The Climate Change Billwas introduced into Parliament on 14 November 2007 and became law – the Climate Change Act - on 26th November 2008. This legislation has been drawn up to tackle the combined challenge of moving towards a low carbon economy and adapting to inevitable climate change. In summary, the Act provides the following:
